Chilterns Gateway Club
News: 2009 Gateway Holiday Report
Chilterns Gateway Club was formed way back in 1966. It is for people with learning disabilities and is affiliated to Mencap.
The aims of Chilterns Gateway Club are centred around its members. The main aim is to advance the personal development of people with learning disabilities through greater leisure opportunities by promoting personal choice and independence.
A member of the club has:
- the right to retain individuality
- the right to privacy
- the right to form relationships
- the right to develop and make decisions
- the right to be involved in planning their future
- the right to take risks and make mistakes
- the same rights as other members of the society
- the right to be treated with dignity and respect
The club is run by non-paid volunteers. Duties include providing activities, emotional support, friendship, weekend trips, holiday and many other interesting things. All volunteers must agree to a check by the criminal records bureau
We raise all our funds and accept donations from the public and other supporting bodies. We have fun when raising money so it can be done by members and supporters of the club together
